Overview

The Rehabilitation Science PhD program from Queen's University stress the multi-disciplinary contribution of many health professions and disciplines to rehabilitation.

Key facts:

Develop a broad critical understanding of issues in Rehabilitation Science;
Acquire and apply knowledge of theories and frameworks in Rehabilitation Science;
Demonstrate scholarly written and oral communication skills with respect to Rehabilitation Science research and its application;
Demonstrate collaborative skills in scholarly contexts of critically discussing, conducting and appraising research;
Develop and apply skills in conducting research, including creating research proposal; collecting, managing and analyzing research data; synthesizing findings; and implementing knowledge translation;

Programme Structure

Students are exposed to the broadest scope of rehabilitation science and are provided with a unique opportunity to develop insight and understanding of the multidisciplinary and inter-professional aspects of rehabilitation.
This approach is an innovative feature of the program and is unique to the Queen's program in Rehabilitation Science.
Rehabilitation Science is the systematic study of disablement within the individual, community, and society.
Disablement is conceptualized as overlapping domains of pathophysiology, impairment, functional limitation, societal/environmental limitations, and social participation.
Rehabilitation focuses on remediation, compensatory approaches and transformative change to enable individuals to live full and satisfying lives as members of their community.

Two references (submitted via the online application portal)
Resume - submitted to Graduate Assistant
Statement of Interest – maximum 4000 characters (submitted via the online application system)
For international applicants, proof of acceptable competency in English is required
