Renovation Technician Assistant
Join the Pack at North Carolina State University as a Renovation Technician Assistant in the Design and Construction Department, located in Raleigh, NC. This full-time role involves supporting renovation projects by assisting with carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing tasks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Service sinks, water supplies, medical gases, plumbing fixtures, water heaters, A/C units, terminal units, and ductwork.
- Assist in installing metal-framed walls, door and window frames, sheetrock, finishing walls, and acoustical ceiling systems.
- Assist with institutional electrical wiring, retrofitting light fixtures, and installing/removing outlets, switches, and conduit runs.
- Assist with trim work, wall removal, partition installation, and room alterations using hand and power tools.
- Utilize knowledge of equipment like power tools, hand tools, electrical meters, and measuring devices.
- Read blueprints, schematics, technical specifications, and manuals.
- Coordinate with coworkers and building contacts for project timelines and system shutdowns.
- Perform all work within State, Local, and University codes, following safety guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform multi-trades work in the Construction shop.
- Knowledge of remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
- Assist other trades as required.
Minimum Experience/Education:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated competencies necessary to perform the work. Experience in relevant trades may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge of commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and understand instructions.
- Experience in carpentry and electrical trades.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally.
Required License:
Must have a valid driver's license and obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.
