Job Description

We are currently seeking a Research Analyst to join The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) and help drive innovation in how we collect, analyze, and use institutional data. This position focuses on the strategic gathering, organizing, analyzing, and reporting of university data. In collaboration with key stakeholders, such as the Office of Information Technology, the Research Analyst will strengthen best practices for data centralization, supporting the university's commitment to providing excellent student services.

The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative problem solver with a strong commitment to data accuracy, institutional reporting, planning, and assessment. This individual will effectively manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, maintaining a high level of attention to detail, and upholding the accuracy and integrity of university data.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Working under the supervision of the Senior Director of Institutional Research, utilizing current technology and enterprise data systems, including Banner, to support institutional research needs, governmental compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Completing and automating routine data tabulation and reporting tasks to fulfill internal and external requests for commonly reported performance data such as enrollment, retention, diversity, and completion rates.
  • Assisting with data needs, for initiatives across the University.

Salary: $57,151. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (i.e. R, SAS, SPSS, etc.).
  • Experience working with datasets and conducting descriptive statistical analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with higher education reporting requirements (e.g. IPEDS, NYSED).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and summarize data and information for multiple audiences.
  • Experience interpreting or working with complex datasets.
  • Experience working with and extracting data from a student information system (Banner preferred).
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
