Join UQ’s Advancement and Community Engagement (ACE) team as a Research Analyst and help shape the future of philanthropy at one of the world’s top 50 universities. In this strategic role, you’ll deliver high-quality research and actionable insights that guide fundraising efforts and deepen relationships with donors, alumni, and partners.
You’ll be the intelligence engine behind our philanthropic strategy - curating profiles, analysing trends, and uncovering opportunities that align with UQ’s mission. From prospect identification to stewardship, your work will empower senior leaders and fundraisers to build meaningful, long-term partnerships.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and implementing research strategies to identify high-potential prospects.
- Preparing comprehensive profiles and briefings for Advancement staff and senior leadership.
- Translating complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform donor engagement.
- Championing CRM optimisation and data integrity across ACE portfolios.

About You
- Completion of an undergraduate degree, complemented by relevant experience in prospect research, library science, or a related research field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
- In-depth knowledge of prospect research within a higher education environment, with a solid understanding of fundraising principles.
- Proven ability to research and analyse individuals and organisations as prospective donors, synthesising findings into comprehensive insights that inform ACE planning.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of fostering positive, collaborative relationships with clients and internal stakeholders across complex organisational structures.
- Strong understanding of privacy and information regulations and how these regulations apply to the handling of research data.
- Advanced proficiency with computer systems, including relational databases, complex spreadsheets, the Office suite, and research tools.
- Exemplary standards of professionalism, personal initiative, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Highly developed organisational and time-management skills, capable of independently managing multiple priorities simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in CRM systems, with desirable hands-on involvement in the implementation, optimisation, and integration of Salesforce to enhance prospect research.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
