Research Analyst

The Social Research Institute (SRI) seeks a Mixed Methods Research Analyst to assist in the coordination, facilitation, data analysis, and program evaluation for research projects focused on child and social welfare. This position involves working closely with other research members at SRI, state agency staff, and administrators. Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods is required. Strong interpersonal skills, research/project coordination, literature review, and writing skills are necessary.

Responsibilities: The work requires both independent work and collaboration with the SRI internal team and with community programs. This position may require local travel.

Essential Functions: The Research Analyst will work with other research members in SRI and social service programs across the state of Utah. Each program is enrolled in a multiyear evaluation process that includes the following components:

  • Conducting evaluations of program quality using structured assessments;
  • Collecting data, including interviews, surveys and administrative data;
  • Coordination of research efforts, including focus groups, interviews, observations, and file review;
  • Data analysis of qualitative and quantitative data;
  • Synthesize research findings and literature review for dissemination through written reporting;
  • Presenting evaluation and improvement results to state-level administration.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, or equivalency, plus two years of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. A valid Utah Driver's License may be required in certain departments. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences: Bachelor's degree in a social science, public health, administration, statistics, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred. A strong desire to improve the quality of social service programming. The ability to establish strong working alliances with program administration and staff. Understanding of evidence-based practice and program evaluation. Experience with R, SPSS, SAS, Python, or other statistical programming tools desired. Familiarity with child welfare systems or related social services preferred. Experience with interviews, focus groups, or similar is desired.
