In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $70,000.00 Annually
Maximum: $75,000.00 Annually
Job Summary
Under the general direction of Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Research Analyst will conduct data analysis, coordination, and reporting. The position will use reporting and data visualization tools such as IBM Cognos, MS Excel, Power BI, and/or other similar software to report university information to the appropriate compliance and accreditation agencies. Analyze data statistically using SQL, MS Excel, and/or similar software and use data visualization tools like Power BI or similar software to respond to data requests from the College community. Write SQL syntax to extract, analyze and interpret data from ODS and manipulate large datasets. Assist in designing and administering surveys, collecting and maintaining data, and ensuring quality and accuracy of data using Qualtrics or similar software. Use data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL, MS Excel, IBM Cognos and/or other similar software to report College information to external surveys like IPEDS, NSF-GSS, Peterson’s, US News & World Report, etc. Use business intelligence tools like Power BI or similar software to distribute and promote university information like fact-books, fast-facts, etc. to wider audiences.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of SQL syntaxes, queries, and database structures.
- Proficiency with PL/SQL Developer or similar software.
- Experience using SPSS for statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in dashboard creation/development using PowerBI and/or other similar software.
- Strong working knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel functionality.
Skill:
- Excellent problem solving and logic skills with the ability to work independently.
- Close attention to detail.

- Strong work ethic skills.
Ability to:
- Stand and/or sit and continuously perform essential job.
- Work longer hours, after hours, weekends and on holidays if and when it becomes necessary.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Management Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science or related required, from an accredited academic institution.
Experience or Training:
- 6 months of work experience in a similar position, or combination of academic and work experience.
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Ability to travel for work-related meetings, training, conferences or events as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
- Experience with SQL, MS Excel, IBM Cognos Analytics, PowerBI and/or other similar software.
- Knowledge of Institutional Research Field in higher education.
