Offer Description
The Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Research and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Architecture and Visual Arts, within the Industrial Architecture Teaching Group.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching while pursuing research in the field of Circular Economy in Architecture as a member of an international research team.

Skills/Qualifications
- Deliver teaching and supervise student learning in undergraduate (Bachelor's) and graduate (Master's) programmes in Architecture in both Polish and English.
- Contribute to the academic and administrative activities of the Department and the Faculty.
- Continuously develop academic, research and professional competences.
- Adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and professional ethics, including compliance with the Code of Ethics for Employees of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
- Conduct high-quality research, including as a member of an international research team.
- Prepare for and participate in a series of co-creation workshops and collaborative research activities undertaken by an international team working on Circular Economy in Architecture.
- Undertake other teaching, research and administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department or Faculty authorities.
Specific Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
In addition, candidates should demonstrate the following:
- A Master's degree (or equivalent) in Architecture or Architecture and Urban Planning.
- Being in the final stage of doctoral studies or having submitted a doctoral dissertation in the discipline of Architecture and Urban Planning, confirmed by the doctoral supervisor.
- An established research profile in Circular Economy, with particular emphasis on the recovery and reuse of secondary construction materials, demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including at least one publication in a Journal Citation Reports (JCR)-indexed journal with an Impact Factor and awarded 140 points in the current Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education journal ranking.
- Native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Polish.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English, including scientific and technical English, evidenced by an appropriate language certificate or completion of a University Language Centre course (minimum B2+), together with international study experience or professional experience in an international architectural practice.
- Completion of the Higher Education Teaching Programme (minimum Part II).
- Training in communication skills and the principles of Project-Based Learning (PBL).
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in architectural practice.
- Demonstrated expertise in architectural design sufficient to teach architectural design studios, including documented teaching experience, particularly in residential and industrial architectural design.
- Proficiency in digital tools supporting architectural design.
Research and creative activities
The candidate should demonstrate scientific, research and/or creative activity that fits into the priority areas of the Faculty’s development, covering at least one of the following areas:
- Landscape architecture and green-blue infrastructure,
- AI, data, and digital tools in design,
- Technologies, materials, and prototyping,
- Adaptive and circular architecture,
- Social research, participation, and mediation,
- Crisis, extreme, and interventionist architecture,
- Specialised and technological architecture,
- Criticism, analysis, and interpretation of architecture.
Note: International activity will be rated higher than domestic activity.
Obligatory:
- Conducting research in at least one of the areas listed above
- Documented scientific and research achievements – authorship or co-authorship of at least one English-language publication from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education list, for a minimum of 140 points
- Active participation in scientific conferences (domestic or international)
- Building license in the architectural specialty for unlimited design

Teaching Activities
The candidate should demonstrate teaching experience or the potential to develop education that addresses contemporary challenges in architecture and urban planning, particularly in at least one of the following areas:
- Design for environmental challenges – ecosystem sustainability, carbon footprint, and resilience of the built environment,
- Protection and adaptation of architectural heritage,
- Architecture for the needs of users and communities,
- Architectural theory, critical thinking, and speculative and experimental design,
- Integrated design and design at various scales – from interiors and buildings to urban structures,
- Design experimentation, modelling, prototyping, and research methods in design.
Note: International activities will be prioritised over domestic activities

* If the competition is won by an individual who is employed under an employment relationship with another employer conducting research, research and teaching, research and development, or implementation activities (excluding cases specified in Article 125, Section 3 of the Act), and such employment does not expire on the date of employment at Wrocław University of Science and Technology as their primary place of work, then, in accordance with Article 125, Section 1 of the Act, taking into account Article 125, Section 2 of the Act, such individual is required to obtain the Rector's consent to additional employment under an employment relationship with another employer after being hired at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. If the competition is won by an individual who conducts business activity, the requirement of Article 125, Section 7 of the Act must be met.

Candidates' applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by Magdalena Baborska-Narożny, PhD, DSc, Eng, Arch., University Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. After the competition process closes, applications submitted by post to candidates who were not accepted will be returned. Applicants will be able to collect their applications from the Human Resources Assistant within six months of the competition process closing, with acknowledgment of receipt.
