Research Assistant (Adaptive Urban Planning)

Job Description

  • Develop and support urban coastal planning scenarios.
  • Collect, organise, and analyse multi-source information, including quantitative datasets and qualitative materials (e.g. planning documents, reports, maps, interviews).
  • Conduct case studies related to coastal adaptation.
  • Produce clear visualisations (maps, diagrams, timelines, and graphics) to communicate research findings.
  • Support research documentation and writing for reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Collaborate with team members across planning, engineering, and policy domains.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture, geography, or a related design or built-environment discipline and with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience, and good knowledge, skills and expertise in relevant field.
  • Strong ability to collect, synthesise, and analyse information from diverse sources.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation tools such as QGIS and Adobe Suite.
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
  • Interest or prior knowledge in coastal planning, climate adaptation, or water-related infrastructure is an advantage.
