Job Summary
Our research team led by Dr. Yelena Wu at Huntsman Cancer Institute is hiring a part-time research assistant to join our highly collaborative and energetic group. This position will support multiple ongoing research studies centered around the prevention of skin cancer in different Utah populations. This position will provide up to 19 hours/week of work on various research projects focused on skin cancer prevention in young populations, including college students and young sports teams throughout the state of Utah.
The Research Assistant will prepare materials for study visits, recruit undergraduate students to the research study, lead intervention and assessment visits, and communicate with participants to encourage study participation. The Research Assistant will also create reports of study activities and outcomes, which will involve data cleaning and running basic descriptive statistics. Other data-related tasks may include creating tables and figures based on collected data along with coding qualitative (interview) data. In addition to standard workdays (8am-5pm), job duties may involve travel to rural communities for data collection, with some overnight, evening, and weekend visits being necessary. Secondary responsibilities may include providing assistance on related research projects.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions Research Assistant responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Developing and revising study protocols to ensure clarity and participant safety
- Establishing trusting and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and study participants
- Preparation of materials and staff for study visits, including traveling to rural counties for data collection
- Utilizing a structured protocol to lead activities for skin cancer prevention and collect survey data from participants
- Documenting activities and outcomes in appropriate databases
- Compiling reports summarizing study progress
- Running basic statistical analyses (e.g., descriptives) to characterize study samples and intervention effects
- Qualitative interviewing and coding interview data
- Attending team meetings to discuss progress, successes, and challenges
- Participating in ongoing training to maintain fidelity to protocols and other research required training
- Prepare and submit IRB documents.
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
