Research Assistant/Associate, Analytical Chemistry, Metabolomics, Lipidomics
Job Description
SLING, the Singapore Lipidomics Incubator at the National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of a Research Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development and optimization of mass spectrometry-based methods for biomonitoring. You do not need to have a background in academic research. In fact, we would be very keen to expand our team with an analytical scientist who has worked in testing or diagnostic labs/CROs under regulatory environments, e.g., ISO certification
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly dedicated and motivated individual with hands-on experience in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, including ICP-MS. We offer a vibrant, multidisciplinary research environment with top-class facilities. A friendly atmosphere awaits you, with collaborations between different departments at NUS, local clinical research institutes and international collaborators. You will be working closely with a team of senior scientists, staff and students to meet the responsibilities detailed below.
- Plan and organize standard operating procedures of the projects
- Develop new analytical methods (LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS) for biomonitoring compounds such as metabolites, PFAS, Phthalates, PCBs, PAHS, and heavy metals
- Perform sample preparation protocols for human blood samples
- Routine operation of LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS, once proficiently trained
- Assist in processing and quality control of mass spectrometry data
- Prepare project updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical or Chemical Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences, or related disciplines
- At least 5 years working experience in an analytical chemistry lab
- Hands-on experience with method development for LC/MS of at least some of the following compounds: metabolites, PFAS, Phthalates, PCBs, and PAHs (required)
- Hands-on experience with method development for ICP-MS of heavy metals (required)
- Hands-on experience with operation and troubleshooting of LC, MS and ICP-MS.
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or developing tests that have received regulatory approval is considered a strong advantage
To apply, please send your cover letter, CV and names of 3 references (name, institution, email) to Dr Amaury Cazenave Gassiot, bchacgt@nus.edu.sg. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
