A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering to work on Novel Materials for Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (Dispersal). The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK. Key responsibilities include exploring non-sulphate aerosols, developing a dispersal system, and investigating options for dispersion and nozzle design. This involves small-scale experiments on supersonic flow and abrasive fluids, as well as designing a scale-up dispersion system. The role also includes some teaching/learning support and resource planning.
Required skills include knowledge of fluid mechanics, compressible flow, and multi-phase flows, particularly abrasive slurries. Applicants should have a PhD or relevant experience in Chemical Engineering, Colloid Science, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, or Applied Maths.
Appointment at Research Associate level requires a PhD; otherwise, it is at Research Assistant level.
