Research Assistant/ Associate – Telehealth
The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, is seeking a highly motivated and capable Research Assistant or Research Associate (RA) to support an ongoing clinical research study under the supervision of Associate Professor Kavita Venkataraman. This project aims to evaluate the feasibility, accuracy, and utility of tele-dental screening for periodontitis in individuals with diabetes. The successful candidate will play a key role in participant interaction, oral health data collection, and overall study operations. The RA will also be expected to work independently, while working in a team-based setting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct epidemiological oral examination and capture high-quality intra-oral images in individuals with diabetes
- Facilitate participant recruitment, scheduling, and obtain informed consent.
- Administer structured oral health questionnaires through face-to-face interviews.
- Perform data entry in REDCap and ensure accurate and secure documentation of study data.
- Work closely with other dental professionals and research team members to ensure smooth execution of study procedures.
- Maintain compliance with study protocols, ethical guidelines and other study related protocols such as sterilization of instruments and so on.
- Perform quality checks and administrative tasks related to study operations.
- Draft research reports and manuscripts for scientific sharing and publication
- Support the preparation of new grant proposals
- Attend project meetings and to participate (where necessary) in other meetings
- Undertake any other specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigator
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal in English).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team.
- Fluency (written and spoken) in other languages (Mandarin, Malay, Tamil) will be an advantage as the role involves face-to-face interactions with participants who may not primarily use English.
- Prior experience in research, public health, or community engagement is desirable but not essential.
- Self-motivated, independent learner and detail-oriented
- Good project management skills

Qualifications
Qualification: Bachelor of Dental Surgery or Master of Dental Surgery degree, preferably registered with Singapore Dental Council
