Research Assistant
Job Summary
Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs activities in support of clinical research projects.
- Recruits participants and determines qualifications/eligibility to participate in study.
- Analyzes results of research experiments and procedures via manual and/or computer techniques.
- Participates in project planning and development of research protocols.
- Prepares manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
- Assists with grant preparation.
- Collects samples or data and performs lab analysis and/or quantifies and tabulates results.
- Performs data entry in statistical programs for relevant research activities.
- Coordinates research activities of graduate students, fellows, assistants and other employees.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications
Some previous experience with social/behavioral science (public health) research is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: B5
Salary Minimum: $17.88/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
