Research Assistant
Job Summary
General lab manage; Mouse breeding; General research work including molecular biology and cell culture.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- General Lab management - 30%
- Take inventory of lab supply
- Order research supply
- Stock lab supply in cell culture room and lab space
- Cleaning and autoclave
- Mouse breeding - 30%
- Set up mouse breeding cages, wean, take inventory of breeding mice
- Mouse genotype
- Mouse transfer to the researcher
- General lab research work - 40%
- Perform general molecular biology experiments including PCR, cloning, western blot, immunohistochemistry, etc
- Cell culture, transfection
- Plasmid preparation, lentiviral vector production, etc. Perform all other job-related duties incidental to position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research. OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality; Detail-oriented; Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required); Pay Band: B5; Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position; Recruitment Period: Until Filled; Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees.
