What You'll Do

  • In collaboration with Principal Investigator develops and modifies techniques and protocols and provides input into research design. Works independently performing a wide range of specialized techniques and experiments. Analyzes data, interprets results and assists in writing materials for publication and presentation. May supervise or provide work direction to others in the laboratory and helps manage laboratory operations.
  • Conducts specialized laboratory experiments including DNA sequencing and molecular biology techniques.
  • Perform techniques such as cell culturing, preparing samples for live-cell microscopy or FACS, lentivirus transductions, microbiology infections of cells and molecular biology procedures
  • Performs infections of mice with Borrelia burgdorferi using infected ticks
  • Uses bioinformatic technology to interpret data from experiments
  • Develops research study design techniques and protocols in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, suggesting modifications to protocols and experiments when necessary.
  • Oversees collection of data, analysis and records; interpretation and presentations of data for analysis; writes summaries and material for presentations and publications.
  • Manages laboratory operations including equipment, materials and supplies, and compliance with SOPs, safety and OSHA requirements
  • May hire, train and supervise laboratory staff and assist in evaluating performance of more junior staff

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through Bachelors degree in science and 2 years of related laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge and expertise with advanced laboratory techniques and procedures, data interpretation and statistical analysis.
  • Consistent attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise and leadership skills.
  • Position will require working with mice and ticks.

Pay Range

Minimum $49,500.00, Midpoint $62,000.00, Maximum $74,500.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
