Offer Description
6 Months Fixed Term, Part-time Post (0.5 FTE)
NorseMap is an ERC-funded project investigating the legacy of the Vikings and mapping the evolution of perceptions of the Viking past over the past 200 years. A key component of this is our iViking mobile app, which allows the public to make submissions of photos to our public archive. We are looking to hire a part-time research assistant for a period of six months, to assist with the most intensive period of archiving, describing and adding metadata to our iViking app submissions and online Omeka archive.
The ideal candidate will be someone with a keen eye for detail, a good level of IT proficiency, and some historical knowledge of the period covered by the project (the Viking Age). Confidence to reach out to contributors and engage with stakeholders via email is essential, and experience working with digital archives (Omeka in particular) and proficiency in a second language would be bonuses.
This is an opportunity to join a high-profile project and to work with an international team of researchers to help gather data on the legacy of the Vikings across Europe.
Please note that this is an in-person role based at our project offices in Wandesford Quay, Cork, with an expected start date as soon as possible following the appointment process.

Salary: €34,129 - €44,311 p.a (IUA RA Salary Scale) (0.5 FTE)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
