Research Assistant (Creixell Group) (Fixed Term)
Join us at the world-leading CRUK Cambridge Institute. We're a unique department of the University of Cambridge, core funded by Cancer Research UK's charitable activities, and we're eagerly searching for an experienced Research Assistant to join our Creixell Group.
The group integrates machine learning with high-throughput biochemistry to decode how proteins selectively recognise their substrates and how these processes are hijacked in cancer.
Our mission is to move beyond traditional "one-size-fits-all" inhibitors by targeting the evolutionary trajectories of tumours. By combining computational modelling with experimental technologies - including peptide display and deep sequencing - we aim to design mutant-specific drugs with higher selectivity and lower toxicity to overcome drug resistance.
The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive operational, financial, and technical support to the lab. This dual-focus lab-management/research role involves coordinating lab procurement and monitoring grant expenditure to ensure efficient resource allocation.
The successful applicant will liaise with vendors to secure competitive pricing and oversee lab safety while contributing directly to international research projects involving protein biochemical screening. Due to the hands-on nature of the role, equipment response, and bench-side research requirements, this is fully on-site position.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 July 2027 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
