Research Assistant, Dept of Accounting

Assistant Professor Jiawen Yan is inviting applications for a full-time Research Assistant (RA) position in Singapore for a minimum of one year (up to two years). The commencement date is flexible, with applications being reviewed on an ongoing basis until the role is filled. This role is ideal for candidates considering a future Ph.D. in accounting, finance, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and clean large-scale datasets and conduct statistical analyses using Stata and Python.
  • Review relevant academic literature and summarize findings.
  • Prepare tables, figures, and documentation for research papers and presentations.
  • Support other research activities as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Stata and Python.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and responsibly.
  • Commitment to full-time, on-campus work at NUS Business School.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research experience in accounting or finance projects.
  • Familiar with text or image data processing, machine learning, or data visualization tools.
  • Long-term interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in a business-related field.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary will be paid on a monthly basis, benchmarked against other research universities.
  • Full-time position with a contract for 1 year, renewable for another year based on performance.
  • Access to NUS research facilities and participation in academic seminars and events at NUS Business School.
