About the role
A research assistant post is available within the Centre for Inflammatory Disease, in the Department of Immunology and Inflammation, at Imperial College London. This post is funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences and is part of a long-term research program focused on human systems immunology.
This post is within Professor Brodin’s group whose lab focusses on the development of immune systems in early life. The team also works on understanding immune systems’ variation in health and disease, the regulatory mechanisms underlying such variation, and adaptation to environmental influences.
What you would be doing
You will provide technical support for work mainly focussing on the development of immune systems in early life. More specifically, you will perform exciting in vitro, and ex vivo experiments including setting up cell cultures, stimulations of cells in whole blood using robotic system, and analysis by high-dimensional cytometry and SIMOA.
What we are looking for
- MSc in a relevant discipline like Biology, Biotechnology, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience
- Knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures
- Prior experience in flow cytometry, SIMOA, cell cultures, and handling blood samples
- Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals
- Ability to understand, develop and innovate methods

This role is for a fixed-term contract for 24 months.
