You will support a pioneering ARC Discovery Project exploring the global history and impact of hourglasses. You will gain experience in digital humanities, material culture and collaborative international research partnerships. You will develop your research profile within a world-leading School for medieval and early modern studies.
What you will deliver
- Develop a comprehensive literature review and bibliography on premodern histories of time and material culture.
- Design, build and maintain the project database with the Melbourne Data Analytics Platform and other experts.
- Coordinate liaison with international partner organisations and technical analysis platforms across the University.
- Contribute to research workshops, seminars and public outreach, sharing findings with academic and wider communities.
- Provide high-quality editing, proofreading and broader research assistance as directed by the Chief Investigator.
You may be a great fit if you
- Hold a completed PhD or postgraduate degree in Humanities or Social Sciences.
- Specialise in premodern studies, with demonstrated expertise in historical source collection, management and analysis.
- Apply advanced skills in editing academic writing and synthesising complex research literature and scholarly databases.
- Show strong digital literacy, quickly adopting new research software.
- Collaborate effectively within small teams, liaising with academic, professional, corporate and community stakeholders.
- Offer competency in European languages, database construction or digital humanities approaches to visual materials.
