Research Assistant, Horseshoe Crabs

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on individual who will assist with field surveys and horseshoe crab research based at the St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory.

Job Scope includes:

  • Conduct regular biodiversity field surveys (intertidal).
  • Specimen processing including Imaging
  • General maintenance and housekeeping of field equipment and laboratory
  • Work travels expected (for fieldwork and regional collaboration)
  • Procurement for project needs
  • Data collection of horseshoe crabs
  • Assist in data analysis and report writing/scientific paper writing
  • Assist in workshops, and seminars
  • General administrative duties
  • Other duties as and when assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognised University, majoring in Biology, Zoology, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in oral and written English
  • Able to work in a team and independently
  • Experience with horseshoe crab studies and fieldwork will be an advantage
  • Strong interest in marine science

Please note that the job position is based at the St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory, St John’s Island. Ferry transport to work will be provided.
