Research Assistant (Hourly), Department of Surgery - School of Medicine
The Department of Surgery at VCU is recruiting for an hourly research assistant to support Dr. Martin Mangino. This position will perform shock studies in rodent models to test new drug candidates for treatment. The technician will be required to independently learn and perform rodent surgery, placement of vascular catheters, maintain anesthesia, record cardiovascular data on a data acquisition system, and follow experimental shock and treatment protocols. The individual will work both in a group setting and be independent.
Minimum requirements
- BS degree in biology or a basic science
- Literacy with Microsoft Office
- Willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
- The ability to learn to record data into excel and prepare scientific charts and graphs using specific software is required.
- Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so
