Position Summary:
Professor Lei Li (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, ECE) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join a collaborative research initiative between the Han Xiao Lab (Department of Chemistry, CHEM) and our research group. This position will focus on an innovative Lymphatic Imaging Project.
Ideal Candidate Statement:
The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our translational research by supporting data collection, data analysis, and the regulatory steps necessary for conducting human clinical studies.
Workplace Requirements:
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.*
This position is funded by a grant, soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.
Finally, this position is term-limited for an initial one-year appointment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Biology, Clinical Research, or a closely related scientific field
- One or more (1+) years of related experience
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Good scientific and numerical skills with meticulous attention to details and accuracy
- Ability to work in a team environment, to participate actively, to collaborate, and to motivate others in the lab
- Critical thinking, technical, and data collection skills
- Strong statistical and graphical analysis skills
- Listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Ability to plan and schedule effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with IND (Investigational New Drug) studies
- Familiarity with FDA regulatory processes and compliance
- Prior experience working in a startup environment, clinical research, or translational medicine
- Strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across two dynamic research labs
Essential Functions:
- Collect, organize, and manage data specific to the lymphatic imaging project
- Perform comprehensive data analysis to support ongoing research goals
- Assist in the coordination and execution of human clinical studies
- Provide administrative and technical support for FDA regulatory processes and documentation
- Communicates results through verbal presentations, written reports, and written articles submitted for publication in conjunction with PI
- Performs all other duties as assigned
