Research Assistant I

The appointment will be for approximately 15 months, commencing in September 2026. The appointee will provide both administrative and research support to the project team. Major responsibilities include conducting classroom-based ethnographic data collection with a particular focus on diversity-oriented teaching practices; liaising with local Hong Kong schools; collecting, managing, and analyzing research data; providing administrative and editorial support; preparing research reports and publications; coordinating workshops and seminars; and performing other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator. Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to candidates with an MPhil or doctoral degree, or equivalent advanced training. They should demonstrate expertise in in-depth qualitative observational data collection and analysis, as well as mixed-methods research. The successful candidate should be mature, open-minded, and possess strong interpersonal skills and intercultural sensitivity. Preference will be given to candidates with academic backgrounds in anthropology, teacher education, cross-cultural psychology, or related disciplines, together with relevant post-qualification work experience. Applicants should possess a strong command of spoken Cantonese and Mandarin, with excellent academic writing skills in English. Experience working with teachers and students in primary and secondary school settings is highly desirable. International experience, as well as a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive teaching practices, will be strong advantages. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
