Research Assistant II Non-Lab
Job Description
Assessing Efforts to Nurture Character and Ethics in Higher Education. Drawing on our decades of research in higher education and established methodologies, this project focuses on qualitative, in-depth, comprehensive assessments of courses, programs, and missions at diverse colleges and universities throughout the United States. The bulk of the work entails data collection and analysis.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
- PREPARING FOR STUDIES: Responsible for recruitment of participants, scheduling interviews, focus groups, and surveys; tracking data collection activities; deidentifying and organizing data for analysis in alignment with IRB protocols. 10%
- DATA COLLECTION: Participate in data collection, including, semi-structured interviews with students and alums, survey development and dissemination, and collection and organization of de-identified student work products. 40%
- DATA ANALYSIS: Prepare memos and contribute to reports to document, analyze, and make sense of qualitative data and insights from piloting. This will involve thinking holistically about the project and what we are learning from working with faculty and administrators, students, consultants, and researchers at other colleges and universities. 20%
- ENGAGEMENT WITH FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS: Participate in meetings with educators who want to co-construct a project with us and/or are using our resources, maintain a database and track insights, and prepare reports for the team. 10%
- LITERATURE REVIEW: Help organize and make sense of what we are learning, including by preparing written reports that link insights to relevant literature. Prepare annotated bibliographies as needed. 10%
- WRITING: Support the development of written summaries, reports, and communication that showcase examples of work with various institutions/faculty and administrators. 5%
- TEAM PARTICIPATION: Actively participate in regular meetings to provide regular feedback and updates to PI(s) and other members of the team. 5%
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
College background or equivalent experience, one to two years of related work experience (relevant coursework may count towards experience), and knowledge and specific experience with teaching/school settings. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, some knowledge of qualitative research methods, and good communication are requirements.
