Job Summary

The Department of Global Health and Population (GHP) seeks to improve global health through education, research, and service from a population-based perspective. As a community of students, educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the world, GHP works together to produce powerful ideas that improve the lives and health of people everywhere. GHP is seeking to hire a project coordinator to support the operations of the Health Systems Innovation Lab (HSIL) under the guidance of Professor Rifat Atun, the principal investigator (PI).

The Health Systems Innovation Lab is a global research and training lab that specializes in health system performance, health policy, innovation and venture creation. The lab uses its research, education, innovation and translation activities to engage innovators, researchers, practitioners, as well as collaborators from governments, private sector, multilateral entities, and civil society to build high-value health systems and accelerate the discussion of healthcare innovations.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and finalization of a study and manuscript on baseline readiness assessment, to gather systematic data on the delivery of health services for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and the capacity to conduct cohort study research in GC-CDIC countries
  • Contribute to the development of policy briefs as guided by the PI to promote uptake of findings from the cohort study to inform policy and practice, with a target of policymakers in low-income and middle-income countries
  • Develop the methodology and conduct country readiness assessment for each of the clinics involved accelerated expansion in the remaining GC-CDIC countries to establish level of support needed and training for capacity development.
  • Analyze the results of the baseline assessment and lead the development of a manuscript for publication.
  • Present country readiness assessment findings to the GC-CDIC countries
  • Provide guidance to early-career researchers from collaborating institutions and countries teams of interns at HSIL in research studies as directed by the PI and based on the capacity development need identified through the readiness assessment

In addition, as directed by the PI, contribute to the development of:

  • a web site with essential health systems data on the CDIC collaborating countries and a methodology and analysis of health systems performance on the CDIC collaborating countries
  • a methodology for the finalization of a framework for analysis of national cancer and cardiovascular plans
  • a methodology for analysis of policy narratives using LLMs and other AI-methods, with use of NHS England as a use case, to ascertain how narratives are used to shape health policy
  • Overall, performs other duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of August 31, 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

The following job-related skills and experience is preferred:

  • Masters degree
  • Experience of quantitative and qualitative research, literature reviews, and evidence-to-policy translation
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience engaging with clinicians and researchers

  • The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health does not provide visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for staff positions.

  • This position has a 90 day orientation and review period. The O&R period will be waived for any internal Harvard employee transfers.

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
