Research Assistant in Ecology
ABOUT THE ROLE
The post holder will support the delivery of a new UKRI Natural Environment Research Council project entitled: ‘Understanding how land-use-climate interactions restructure terrestrial biodiversity to develop a new generation of global biodiversity models’, commencing in early Autumn 2025.
This Research Project is being delivered within the fast-growing School of Geography and Natural Sciences, within the Faculty of Science and Environment at Northumbria University. Home to a number of successful research clusters around the natural environment theme, including the Ecology, Conservation & Society Research Group, the School also spans the spectrum of geographical and environmental research, offering superb opportunities for working across disciplines.
This is a fixed term position for 27 months.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The post holder will be supervised by Dr Andrew Suggitt, Assistant Professor in Ecology, and Co-Investigator for the research project. The role forms part of a wider project team of leading scientists based at University College London (Principal Investigator: Prof Tim Newbold) and Durham University (Co-Investigator: Dr Rebecca Senior) working to address the biodiversity and climate crises. The project has been specifically designed to facilitate a high level of collaboration between the research team at all institutions, sharing knowledge, expertise, data, and findings.
ABOUT YOU
Applicants should hold a PhD in Ecology or allied discipline, and have demonstrable knowledge of global change, microclimates, and ecological or statistical modelling.
