Research Assistant Interviewer LASA Study in Waterland Municipality
Job Summary
The Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA) is a large-scale, ongoing research on aging among individuals aged 55 and older in the Netherlands. It tracks changes in social, physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning, as well as healthcare use, through face-to-face interviews and questionnaires. For the new measurement round starting in October 2025, lasting about 9 months, interviewers are needed to conduct general interviews in the Waterland municipality.
Responsibilities
- Establish contact with participants via phone after they receive an introductory letter, discuss the study, and schedule interviews, typically during weekdays.
- Conduct structured interviews lasting about two hours using a laptop-based questionnaire, covering topics such as health, social functioning, and healthcare use, including simple physical and cognitive tests.
- Record interviews if participants consent.
- Perform administrative tasks after each interview, such as completing a short questionnaire, handling data, and communicating with the coordinator as needed.
- Attend mandatory training sessions on October 10, 13, and 17 in Amsterdam, including conducting a trial interview between the second and third sessions.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of participant data, sign a privacy statement post-training, complete a digital privacy course with a test, and receive feedback on interview techniques.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum education level equivalent to HAVO (high school diploma).
- Reside in the Waterland municipality or immediate vicinity, with preferably access to a car.
- Effective communication skills and persuasiveness.
- Flexible attitude for scheduling appointments with participants.
- Proficiency in using computers, internet, and email.
- Affinity and work experience with older people is a plus.
- Good command of the Dutch language.
What the Employer Offers
A flexible call contract with Amsterdam UMC Research BV. Salary scale 4: €2,651 to €3,353 gross per month for a full-time position, approximately €17.00 gross per hour for interview time. Additional half-hour per interview for administration. 75% reimbursement for travel time, €0.28 per kilometer by car, and reimbursement for parking and public transport costs with receipts. Pension buildup with BeFrank. Training time and trial interview time reimbursed after completing at least 25 interviews. Opportunity to work on large-scale research with motivated colleagues.
