Job Summary

The Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA) is a large-scale, ongoing research on aging among individuals aged 55 and older in the Netherlands. It tracks changes in social, physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning, as well as healthcare use, through face-to-face interviews and questionnaires. For the new measurement round starting in October 2025, lasting about 9 months, interviewers are needed to conduct general interviews in the Waterland municipality.

Responsibilities

  • Establish contact with participants via phone after they receive an introductory letter, discuss the study, and schedule interviews, typically during weekdays.
  • Conduct structured interviews lasting about two hours using a laptop-based questionnaire, covering topics such as health, social functioning, and healthcare use, including simple physical and cognitive tests.
  • Record interviews if participants consent.
  • Perform administrative tasks after each interview, such as completing a short questionnaire, handling data, and communicating with the coordinator as needed.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions on October 10, 13, and 17 in Amsterdam, including conducting a trial interview between the second and third sessions.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of participant data, sign a privacy statement post-training, complete a digital privacy course with a test, and receive feedback on interview techniques.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum education level equivalent to HAVO (high school diploma).
  • Reside in the Waterland municipality or immediate vicinity, with preferably access to a car.
  • Effective communication skills and persuasiveness.
  • Flexible attitude for scheduling appointments with participants.
  • Proficiency in using computers, internet, and email.
  • Affinity and work experience with older people is a plus.
  • Good command of the Dutch language.
