The Department of Applied Biosciences and Process Engineering at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Köthen (Anhalt) site, is seeking to fill the full-time position of a 3-year temporary assistant at the earliest possible date.

for the development and establishment of a resource-efficient master bioprocess as part of the EU/LSA-EFRE-funded joint project OptimumAntibody: resource-efficient antibody production with the Fraunhofer IZI-MWT.

A doctorate at the Doctoral Center Life Sciences of the university is possible.

The employment relationship is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states. The position is in pay group 13 TV-L.

The scientific focus of the overall project is the development and establishment of a cell line and production platform for the rapid and resource-efficient production of sufficient quantities of antibodies of the required specificities. Within the scope of this advertised position, project content is to be conceptualized, the project coordinated, wet lab work planned and carried out, bioprocesses in laboratory reactors developed, established and optimized and the necessary analytics for online and offline analytics for in-process control established.

In addition to method developments, method transfers are also expected to be carried out. Proven expertise in the field of Biotechnology/Bioprocess Engineering or comparable fields is desirable for the necessary exchange and cooperation with a mathematical modeler and a machine learning specialist.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Development and establishment of a resource-efficient and scalable bioreactor-based bioprocess for antibody production in cell culture as well as the necessary tools for further process optimization
• Fine-tuning for optimization with collaborative and project partners
• Close collaboration with employees on mathematical modeling of the bioprocess and implementation of machine learning techniques for improved fermentation process control
• Literature research, formulation of scientific hypotheses and scientific problem solving
• Publication of the results obtained in international journals and preparation of contributions for international workshops and conferences

Your profile:

• a scientific university degree (Master's, Diplom (Uni), PhD) in a natural science or engineering degree program (e.g. Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering) with (very) good results
• sound knowledge of bioprocess technology/development
• initial knowledge of working with animal cell culture
• Experienced working methods in laboratory operations
• good command of English and at least basic knowledge of German
• IT skills (MS Office Profi, ....)
