Research Assistant
Position Summary
This Research Assistant will assist with research initiatives, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in pediatrics and enhancing educational experiences. The Laboratory of Developmental Origins of Resilience (DOOR) conducts research on mouse neuronal circuits activated during stress to elucidate the biological basis of stress resilience. The selected candidate will work on projects at the intersection of Behavioral Neuroscience and Data Science, which aim to analyze large datasets of brain images and behavioral outputs with the goal of understanding how brain circuits are activated and drive animal behavior in response to stressors. This is an excellent opportunity to work with academic researchers, become involved in Computational research in the Neuroscience field, and apply computational techniques to basic science.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of activations maps in mouse brains, primarily using R free-source library.
- Develop computer codes, primarily using ImageJ and Python, to implement algorithms for characterizing brain maps and behavioral trajectories.
- Communicate well in a team environment and regularly present the state of work.
- Assist with data visualization and contribute to document analysis, observations, and results, ensuring accurate and accessible records.
- Must confer with all members of the team to confirm appropriateness and timeliness of tests.
- Coordinates collection of follow-up data as required by the protocol.
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience. Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual Spanish. Experience in any programming language is required- Python, R, Java, C++, Matlab. Experience in imaging data processing.
Other Requirements
Ability to interact with laboratory animals. Contact with patients and/or human research subjects. HIPAA Training required.
