The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig ALS Center is seeking a highly motivated, independent, but team-oriented part-time Research Assistant (RA) to join the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig ALS Center’s research team. The RA will assist Principal Investigators and Senior Managers in running research studies focused on understanding amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related neuromuscular conditions.
Responsibilities
- Supports research study enrollments that occur concurrently with clinical visits by communicating closely with patients, hospital/research facility staff, research team, sponsors and other pertinent groups
- Maintains and prepares detailed, organized study source documents
- Assists in sample collection, processing and storage, management of sample inventory, coordination of sample transport, and shipping specimens per Columbia University, DOT, and IATA guidelines
- Assists with data entry and query resolution using multiple Electronic Data Capture systems
- Ensures data quality, integrity, and compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements
- Establishes and maintains regular communication with study team, hospital staff, and study sponsors to ensure day-to-day study status and patient safety updates are communicated
- Performs additional duties as assigned, such as clinical scribing and clinical clerical duties or various downstream assays on research samples, depending on finalist experience and interest.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Prior research experience is preferred but may be substituted with experience requiring similar conscientious execution. Complete training will be provided.
- Proficiency with standard productivity software (Microsoft Office suite, email, shared calendars, etc)
