Research Assistant

Job Summary

The Research Technician will assist in the design, development, and documentation for a quantum science-focused programming language. Working closely with IQIM's Manager of Outreach and other researchers, the Technician will work to develop an object-oriented programming language focused on quantum science.

Essential Job Duties

• Working with the IQIM team to identify concepts to be demonstrated and categorized through programming
• Categorize concepts into step-by-step processes
• Develop programming to describe each step, then build the components to develop a larger process
• Responsible for initial code development and testing
• Complete further enhancements and follow-up review of the initial code
• Assemble component sections of code into modules; these modules will form the basis of a broader language built from multiple components and variations of the modules
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including C++ and Python
• Ability to work independently and also contribute to group discussion and problem-solving sessions
• High attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior coding experience and experience completing independent projects
• Willingness for peer-to-peer participation, problem-solving, and the possibility of group coding sessions to solve specific problems
• Prior experience writing or developing code as part of a project or to solve problems
