Research Assistant / PhD Study (Fixed Term)

We are seeking an applicant for a fully funded ERC Research Assistant position with funding to undertake a PhD in probability theory led by Professor Jason Miller in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

Duties include undertaking your own program of research and assisting with ongoing research programmes; writing up results for publication; and presenting your work to colleagues at conferences or seminars, both internally and externally. You may also be asked to assist in organising various seminars and study groups. During the period of funding for this role, you will be eligible to complete your PhD studies.

The successful candidate will have a Masters degree in mathematics by the start date of the position and should have relevant background knowledge in probability theory.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 4 years in the first instance, with an anticipated start date of 01 October 2026.
