During periods of active external funding, the faculty member may also hold a 3-month summer appointment, typically involving teaching or research-aligned activities within the College of Education.

Essential Duties Summary
Research and Scholarship:
- Develop, lead, and sustain a competitive externally funded research program aligned with disciplinary and institutional priorities
- Prepare and submit grant proposals in collaboration with institutional research support personnel
- Manage funded research projects in compliance with university and sponsor requirements
- Produce and disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other discipline-appropriate outlets
- Mentor graduate and doctoral students in research activities aligned with funded and unfunded scholarly projects
- Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives within and beyond the university
Teaching and Doctoral Mentorship:
- Teach graduate-level courses in the faculty member’s area of expertise, including doctoral-level courses in the Ed.D. program
- Advise and mentor doctoral students, including supervision of dissertations and applied research projects
- Integrate research activities into graduate and doctoral instruction to enhance student scholarly development
- Engage in reflective teaching practices and continuous instructional improvement
- Participate in assessment activities related to teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes
Service and Professional Engagement:
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities consistent with rank and career stage
- Contribute to program development, accreditation, and research-focused initiatives
- Engage in professional service at the local, regional, national, or international level as appropriate
- Collaborate with colleagues to support scholarly, instructional, and co-curricular activities
Summer Appointment (During External Funding Periods):
- Participate in a 3-month summer appointment, typically involving teaching, research, or programmatic activities aligned with faculty expertise
- Summer responsibilities and compensation are structured to support workload sustainability and research continuity
- Participating in college committees

Hiring Range: $62,274.50 - $80.956.00
Education: An earned doctoral degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies or an equivalent field
Required Licensing/Certification: Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified School Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of the counseling profession relates to doctoral education, research, and professional training.
- Knowledge of externally funded research processes, including grant development, administration, and project management.
- Knowledge of doctoral education structures, graduate mentorship practices, and applied research models.
- Familiarity with research ethics, regulatory compliance, and institutional review processes.
- Awareness of current trends, theories, emerging issues, and evidence-informed practices within the counseling discipline.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
Skill in:
- Strong research design, analysis, and scholarly writing skills
- Grant writing and proposal development skills or demonstrated potential to secure external funding
- Effective graduate-level teaching and curriculum design skills
- Mentorship and advising skills for graduate and doctoral students
- Collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement skills
- Time management and organizational skills supporting multiple professional responsibilities

Ability to:

Work Experience
Preferred Experience:
- Two or more years of postdoctoral research experience.
- A record of impactful research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience teaching in an active learning environment with innovative teaching strategies.
- Experience writing competitive funding proposals.
- Experience developing and maintaining a funded research program.
- Experience mentoring and advising graduate students.
- Experience fostering a sense of belonging for all students, including traditionally underrepresented populations in Educational Administration.
- Experience in recruitment and retention of graduate students.
- Drive to excel in teaching, research, and service.
