"Research Assistant Professor Department of Philosophy (Post Ref.: 25/218)"

Lingnan University is seeking applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy.

The Department of Philosophy at Lingnan University is renowned for analytic philosophy and has strengths in aesthetics, ethics, Chinese philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, philosophical logic, philosophy of science, and political philosophy. It offers programs including a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Philosophy and AI starting from 2025-26 and a Master in Arts in Artificial Intelligence and the Future.

Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD in Philosophy or related disciplines obtained no more than five years prior to the appointment. A record of publications in leading journals is preferred. The appointee should teach courses such as "Introduction to Set Theory and Applications," Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, or Deductive Logic. Expertise in Set Theory is preferred but not required. Responsibilities include conducting research, publishing in top journals (e.g., 3*/4*-ranked in ethics), organizing research activities, teaching three courses per year at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising projects, and performing administrative duties.

Research: Carry out research in ethics and organize seminars or workshops.

Teaching: Three courses per year, with English as the medium of instruction.

Service: Administrative duties as assigned.

Appointment: Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and allowances. Initial one-year contract, renewable subject to funding. Starting date no later than January 2026.
