Description:
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor in the area of Electromagnetics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to multiple research projects supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and industrial partners. We are seeking individuals prepared to assume leadership roles across several dimensions of these efforts.
This is a 12-month appointment, renewable contingent on funding, performance, and programmatic need. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates should have a strong experimental background in the area of Magnetic Resonance (MR) Safety for medical implantable devices. Candidate should be able to perform electromagnetic simulations via software packages, such as Sim4Life and High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), and carry out experiment studies along with a proven record of preparing technical reports, scientific publications, and research grant proposals. Demonstrated experience supervising Ph.D. students and/or postdoctoral researchers, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, is required.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s research activities, collaborate across the College and University, and participate in securing externally funded research grants as part of a dynamic team of faculty and research scientists.
