Research Assistant Professor - Immunoengineering
The William A. Brookshire Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Research Assistant Professor in the field of biomolecular engineering with specialization in the area of immunoengineering. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct experimental research in collaboration with other faculty members, supervise junior researchers, collaborate in the preparation of or lead research proposals to secure external funding, publish papers in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the department’s mission of academic excellence.
Examples of relevant focus areas include: (1) immunoengineering approaches for cancer and autoimmune diseases, (2) antibody discovery and development, (3) cell-based therapies, and (4) immunomaterials (e.g., engineered nanoparticles) for delivery. Expertise in cancer immunology and immunoengineering would be particularly desirable because it will maximize synergistic opportunities for innovative research with other UH researchers and researchers from the nearby Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world with researchers working at the forefront of the life sciences.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze complex experiments in the field of immunoengineering.
- Develop proposals to secure external funding to support research programs.
- Collaborate in the preparation of or lead research proposals to secure external funding
- Collaborate with other faculty members and supervise graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians working in research laboratories.
- Present research results at professional conferences and participate in department/college committees.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Biomolecular Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely-related discipline.
- At least two years of experience as postdoctoral associate in a research laboratory or relevant experience in industry.
- A strong record of scholarly productivity in the form of published research.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
