Research Assistant Professor of Neuroscience
The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of mammalian somatosensory system and primary afferent neurons. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting independent and collaborative research using single-cell technologies and molecular, cellular, and circuit manipulations to examine the effects of the human and mouse somatosensory afferents in physiological and pathological conditions. A strong record of original peer-reviewed publications in this research area, collaboration, mentoring, and interpersonal skills is also required. Additional responsibilities may include the establishment of an independent, extramurally funded research program.
Candidates should have expertise and demonstrated experience in working with human primary tissues, single cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and large-scale transcriptomic data analysis. In addition, the candidate should have experience in using mouse tools to study conserved mechanisms in mice. Finally, a deep understanding of the literature underlying the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with the mammalian somatosensory system is desirable.
We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
