Research Assistant

Job Description

The Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute is looking for a full-time grant-funded Research Assistant to work on several different research studies relating to mental health in families and youth. The successful applicant will work closely with the Project Managers, Clinicians, and other staff, as well as the Principal Investigators, on efforts that will have a direct impact on the different research studies. Job-related activities include but are not limited to: (1) conducting study-related formative research; and (2) recruiting study participants; (3) screening for eligibility, consenting eligible participants and scheduling participant interviews; (4) conducting initial enrollment interviews and follow-up interviews; (5) compiling and entering data into study databases; (5) delivering study interventions.

Job Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Undergraduate coursework in research methods. Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.

Experience

  • Experience with survey and database software, such as Redcap, preferred.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Experience working in human subjects research, preferred.
  • Research experience, particularly with mental health research.

Job Competencies

  • Strong software proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RedCap, Qualtrics), with willingness to learn and utilize new software applications as needed
  • High level of comfort with technology that enables virtual interactions (e.g., Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, TEAMS).
  • Ability to interact well with parents and youth.
  • Ability to discuss mental health concerns, including depression and substance use.
  • Ability to compile and enter data accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, high level of professionalism and organization required.
  • Efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with little structure.
  • Willing to travel locally to conduct study activities.
  • Flexibility to support a varying work schedule which may involve some days with a noon-8pm schedule.

This is a hybrid-eligible position.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 10/31/2026, which may be extended based upon available funding.
