Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3.5 years in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position in synthetic organic chemistry in the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge.

The research will be conducted in the group of Dr. Pawel Dydio (https://www.ch.cam.ac.uk/person/pd552) and will focus on developing novel strategies for the functionalisation of typically unreactive C¿H and C¿C bonds under mild conditions. The work will involve the design, synthesis, and optimisation of new photo-, organo-, or transition metal catalysts and evaluation of their activity in target transformations, followed by extensive optimisation studies. The role will also include kinetic and mechanistic investigations to enhance catalyst performance.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) an undergraduate degree or masters in chemistry or a related field, with a strong background in organic and organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and photochemistry. Prior research experience in organic synthesis and reaction development would be highly desirable. As this is an interdisciplinary project, candidates must be able to work effectively as part of a team and possess excellent communication skills.
