Job duties
The research assistant will work in medical research and perform research assignments and assistant tasks in medical cancer research. In detail, the research assistant will conduct experimental research where brain cells and brain tumor cells will be studied in cell cultures and in vivo models with the aim of studying tumor development and new treatments with adeno-associated viruses. The work includes cell culture and experimental models, treatment studies in vitro and in vivo, genetic cloning, screening with CRISPR technology, immunostaining and genetic and epigenetic analysis of material sequenced at the single cell level. Gradually, the assistant will run more independent projects. Some administration and minor teaching may be included in the work tasks.
Qualification requirements
The research assistant should have a master's degree in biomedicine, medicine, biology or equivalent. Applicants should have documented experience with in vivo models and a FELASA C certificate (or equivalent) is a requirement. Applicants should have documented experience in studies of brain development and work with cell culture of cancer cells.
Desirable/meritorious in other respects
Experience in studies with childhood cancer or childhood brain tumors is an advantage.
About the employment
The employment is temporary, 12 months. The scope is full-time. Access by agreement. Location: Uppsala
