Research Assistant

Research Assistant - Indigenous Epidemiology and Health Unit

Role type: Part time (0.5FTE) and fixed term to 31 December 2026

Faculty: Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences

Salary: Level A - $87,266 - $118,416 p.a, pro rata plus 17% super

Are you passionate about empowering First Nations communities and driving positive change? As a Research Assistant in the Indigenous Epidemiology and Health Unit, you'll engage in impactful research projects that address health disparities among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Working under the guidance of esteemed leaders, you'll gain hands-on experience in research coordination, data analysis, and community engagement. This role offers you the chance to contribute to meaningful change and develop your expertise in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Coordinating Research Operations: Assist in planning, implementing, and managing day-to-day research activities, including data collection and analysis.
  • Engaging with Community Stakeholders: Liaise with community members to ensure culturally respectful and safe research practices.
  • Preparing Research Documentation: Draft research documents, ethics applications, and disseminate findings at community levels.
  • Maintaining Stakeholder Relationships: Foster ongoing relationships with project partners and ensure effective communication and collaboration.

You may be a great fit if

You are a dedicated professional either nearing completion of or completed a Master's degree, with a passion for Indigenous health and experience in community engagement, research coordination, and stakeholder management.

You may also

  • Have either enrolled in a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Possess strong written communication and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an Indigenous perspective.
  • Be experienced in engaging with community members and stakeholders.
  • Have a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve goals.
