Position
This Research Assistant position is part of the research project "Geographic Representation: How legislators react to the urban–rural divide" , funded by the Comunidad de Madrid under the César Nombela Program grant 2024-T1/PH-HUM-31545. The project studies how elected representatives respond to the growing political divide between urban and rural areas. It combines legislative behavior data (speeches, parliamentary questions, votes), constituency-level geographic and socio-economic data, and…
survey data. The research assistant will help collect, code, and analyze these data and produce datasets, visualizations, and maps of the findings.
Contract and funding
The contract is an M3 part-time contract for one year. The contract will be charged to the César Nombela Program grant 2024-T1/PH-HUM-31545, funded by the Comunidad de Madrid.

Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science or a related field. A Master's degree in political or electoral analysis is highly valued.
- Solid command of R and working knowledge of Python and/or Stata. Proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Datawrapper, ggplot2, Flourish, QGIS or Illustrator.
- Experience with survey analysis and questionnaire design.
- Strong writing and synthesis skills.
- English: B2 or above. Spanish: C1 or above.
Desirable
- Previous experience in academic research, data journalism, social consultancy or applied research.
- Knowledge of French, German or Italian.
- Familiarity with generative AI tools applied to research workflows.
