Offer Description
The University of Bucharest is announcing a competition to fill a Research Assistant position, COR code 263213, as part of the project “Using Earth Observation Techniques and Artificial Intelligence to Detect and Inventory Landslides,” contract no. 40PCBROMD/2025. Funding source: “Use of Earth Observation Techniques and Artificial Intelligence for the Detection and Inventory of Landslides” project, contract no. 40PCBROMD/2025.
Employment period: fixed-term until August 31, 2027
Contract type: part-time, 40 hours/ month.

Skills/Qualifications
- Experience in using GIS systems and in processing/analysing geospatial and remote sensing data;
- Knowledge of programming and data processing relevant to the analysis of remote sensing imagery and the application of artificial intelligence methods;
- Ability to work with raster and vector data, as well as data from Earth observation sources;
- Ability to produce scientific reports and to work as part of a research team.
Specific Requirements
Job-specific activities:
- the acquisition, organisation and pre-processing of geospatial and Earth observation data used in the project;
- the processing and analysis of satellite and UAV data, as well as digital elevation models;
- the preparation of datasets for the development and testing of artificial intelligence models designed to detect and map landslides;
- participating in the labelling, verification and validation of data and results;
- carrying out GIS analyses and producing cartographic outputs for the project;
- participating in fieldwork, where appropriate;
- participating in the documentation, dissemination and exploitation of the project’s scientific results.
