Organization Profile: In 1877, Sir Syed founded the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in Aligarh and patterned the college after Oxford and Cambridge universities that he had visited on a trip to England. His objective was to build a college in tune with the British education system but without compromising its Islamic values. Sir Syed’s son, Syed Mahmood, who was an alumnus of Cambridge prepared a proposal for an independent university to the ‘Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College Fund Committee’ upon his return from England in 1872. This proposal was adopted and subsequently modified. Syed Mahmood continued to work along with his father in founding the college.

Project Title: Socio-Economics Conditions of Slum Dwellers in Aligarh City with Special Reference to Indoor and Outdoor Environment

Funding Agency: Indian Council for Social Science Research

Tenure: 2 years. Initial appointment will be made for a period of 1 year which may be extended up to 18 months or the completion of the project.

Essential Qualifications: Post Graduate in Social Science Discipline (55% minimum) with NET/ M.Phil/ Ph.D

Desired Experience: Should have in-depth knowledge in data entry and analysis. Person skilled with GIS mapping will be preferred. Proficiency in English and strong academic writing skills.

Candidate Profile: The candidate should be completed a UG/PG in the relevant discipline with good academic records. The candidate should have excellent communication. Candidates should be passionate towards teaching and guiding students. The candidate should have good research record.

Emoluments: INR Rs. 47,000/- per month (As per ICSSR guideline)
