Research Associate
Job Summary
This advanced position involves both senior technical and supervisory level for training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The person in this role will help the PI write papers and grant proposals, combine innovative mouse genetic molecular and cell biology, plan and design experiments and design complex proteomic experiments, analysis of complex set of data from microarray using Ingenuity System Pathway Analysis and analysis of complex data from ChIP-Seq experiments.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols.
- Conduct experiments and analyze results of experiments including experiments in Biochemistry.
- Determine need for new supplies and equipment; Make responsible purchasing decisions, place orders, maintain computer database and hard copies for inventory and equipment service records. Responsible for keeping laboratory and equipment functional; Coordinate daily operation and cleanliness of the laboratory. Prepare/update of animal use, biosafety and chemical protocols. Maintain laboratory record keeping, laboratory supplies inventory and frozen stocks of cell cultures. Work with small animals, maintain cell and mouse lines.
- Attend lab meetings and discuss results, offer opinions and insight on technical problem solving and future scientific directions.
- Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years research and/or clinical experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology. Willingness and ability to work with research animals. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and mathematical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under minimum supervision.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position). Pay Band: B8. Minimum Salary: $45,400/annually - $48,000/annually. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: 6/26/25 - Until Filled.
