College/Department Information: The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia provide more than 350 sites for students to experience the full spectrum of medicine.
Job Summary: The candidate should have research experience using drosophila model, including colony maintenance, dissection, immunofluorescence staining, and molecular biology skills, including PCR, western blot and cell culture. The candidate should also have work experience in oncolytic HSV research. The candidate will also perform lab manager work, including ordering, inventory, and meeting conference schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Lab Management: Lab supply ordering, inventory management, monitoring the compliance of lab activities.
- Cell Culture: Maintain cell culture for the lab, maintain lab cell stock inventory.
- Molecular Biology Activities: Performing PCR, western blot for the lab research project.
- Lab Research: Using the drosophila model in the lab research projects: Colony maintenance, dissection, immunofluorescence staining.
- Other: Other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications: More than 10 years' research experience using drosophila models, including colony maintenance, dissection, immunofluorescence staining.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits: Shift: Days/M-F. Pay Band: B8. Salary Range: $45,400/annually - $56,500/annually. Recruitment Period: 10/1/25 - Until Filled. Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees.
