Research Associate (Executive Support - Chief of Staff)

Job Description

The Chief of Staff will serve as the key strategic and operational partner to the Director of the NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity, leading the coordination, execution, and optimization of activities. This individual will ensure that the Academy’s initiatives in education, research, and global engagement are delivered efficiently and with excellence.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, intellectually curious, and thrives in a fast-paced academic and translational science environment. They will manage day-to-day priorities, streamline communications, and enable to focus on strategic leadership, external relations, and high-impact initiatives in precision geromedicine.

This appointment offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual to fast-track their career by engaging in diverse projects and gaining comprehensive insights into the field of healthy longevity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Support & Coordination

  • Act as the principal liaison between the director and internal/external stakeholders across NUS, partner institutions, and global collaborators.
  • Oversee implementation of strategic initiatives of the Academy, ensuring alignment with NUS Academy’s vision and deliverables.
  • Support decision-making through preparation of briefs, strategic analyses, and follow-up on action points.

2. Operations & Project Management

  • Manage and prioritize agenda, communications, and institutional commitments.
  • Coordinate planning, execution, and reporting of key academic and translational projects, including events, educational programs, and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Develop internal workflows and systems that improve efficiency and transparency across the Academy’s operations.

3. Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Draft high-level correspondence, presentations, and policy documents for academic, governmental, and industry audiences.
  • Support the preparation of grant applications, strategic proposals, and progress reports.
  • Represent the Academy in internal and external meetings as delegated by the director.

4. Leadership & Team Enablement

  • Facilitate smooth collaboration between academic staff, researchers, and administrative personnel.
  • Cultivate a professional, mission-driven environment aligned with the ethos of healthy longevity medicine.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in biomedical sciences, public health, management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a coordination, project management, or strategic role—preferably in academia, healthcare, or scientific organizations.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle complex and sensitive matters with discretion and diplomacy.
  • A passion for advancing healthy longevity and translating science into societal impact.
