"Research Associate (Fixed Term)"

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Associate in transport and land-use modelling as part of the £10M DARe Hub, jointly funded by the UKRI and the UK Department for Transport. This Research Associate will work directly with Professor Li Wan, Professor of Planning at the Department of Land Economy, and Professor Jennifer Schooling, Professor of Digital Innovation and Smart Places at ARU. The Research Associate will be based in the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge. The Research Associate will also have affiliated researcher status at the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) and the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (CEENRG).

The Research Associate will play a key role in conducting model-based analysis for a Cambridge case study, investigating how to manage ageing transport and wider social-economic infrastructure in the face of increasing demand and climate impacts. This will be achieved through close engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and by generating practical, actionable policy insights using diverse quantitative datasets, including large-scale traffic monitoring, weather and climate, and infrastructure network data.

Candidates should hold a PhD (submitted or near submission at the time of application) in a field relevant to transport or urban planning, urban or regional economics, urban data science, or systems engineering. Experience with mixed-methods research and good knowledge of the Cambridge sub-region are desirable. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to produce original, high-quality research and publications, as well as a strong interest in contributing to empirically grounded, multidisciplinary policy research.
