Research Associate

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to a project (UKRIx: Navigating the Neural Frontier: Embedding Ethics and Epistemology in Neurotech) working with Professor Lars Muckli and Prof Daniele Faccio and a consortium of scientists between the School of Humanities, School of Physics and School of Psychology and Neuroscience.

The project will conduct brain-reading experiments using high-resolution 7T fMRI in controlled laboratory setting, alongside wearable brain imaging technologies deployed in real-world environments ("in the wild") to examine predicted outcomes. Neural responses will be elicited through short movie clips depicting conversations and actions. The resulting data will be integrated across the consortium. This project is relevant to advancing our understanding of how the brain encodes and predicts real-world social and behavioural outcomes. By combining high-resolution neuroimaging in controlled settings with wearable technologies in naturalistic environments, it bridges the gap between laboratory findings and everyday cognition. The integration of data across the consortium will facilitate insights with potential applications in cognitive neuroscience and adaptive technologies.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

Informal Enquiries should be directed to Professor Lars Muckli, Lars.Muckli@glasgow.ac.uk

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and has funding for up to 18 months.
